Can we buy VFIX Cloud without a managed IT plan?+
Yes. VFIX Cloud is available as a standalone monthly subscription. Choose the devices, Microsoft 365 accounts and storage you need, then keep your own administrator in charge or add the paid VFIX management service. An IT support contract is not required.
What is included in the advertised price?+
Each base plan includes backup licensing for the stated device or account, the listed cloud capacity, scheduled-backup tools, a 30-day retention policy and supported self-service restores. Microsoft 365 has a five-seat minimum and requires your own compatible backup worker, unless VFIX hosting is separately quoted. Application add-ons use their Server Recovery storage allocation. Choose one primary backup method per device. Human backup monitoring, installation assistance and recovery labor are not included in self-service pricing. Supported operating-system versions and backup scope are checked before activation.
How does pooled storage work?+
Allowances are added together within one organization. For example, four Computer Files subscriptions provide 1 TB in total. We allocate that capacity across your backup accounts and devices during setup; it is not a shared folder or file-sync service. All stored backup data, retained versions and any locked objects count toward capacity. 1 TB is 1,000 GB. Add 1 TB for $14.99/month when you need more.
What happens if our backups need more space?+
Choose enough capacity for both current data and retained versions. Capacity alerts let the responsible administrator arrange more space before the allocation fills. Additional capacity is agreed before billing; a full allocation can prevent new backups from completing. Longer retention or frequently changing data may require more storage.
Are restores free?+
Self-service restore tools are included. Standard cloud-download allowance is up to three times your average stored backup volume per billing month; additional transfer is $0.02/GB. VFIX-assisted restores, replacement equipment, large migrations and on-site work are separate. We confirm any assisted-recovery estimate before work begins. Recovery speed depends on the data, connection, hardware and a usable backup.
What does optional VFIX management cover?+
During VFIX business hours, Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Pacific excluding holidays, we review backup results each business day, triage failed jobs and notify your nominated contact. The service includes a monthly status summary, up to 30 minutes of routine remote backup adjustments per organization each month, and one quarterly restore check of agreed sample files or supported Microsoft 365 items from one agreed covered workload. Unused adjustment time does not roll over. Additional troubleshooting and actual recovery projects are quoted separately; this is not a staffed 24/7 response service.
What does the managed setup fee cover?+
Standard onboarding is $149 for up to 10 computers/server instances, including no more than two servers, without specialist application configuration. It covers one remote rollout, agreed file selections and schedules, a 30-day retention policy, notifications and a sample-file restore after the first successful backup. Microsoft 365, NAS, virtual-host deployments, application-specific work, larger rollouts, legacy migration and immutable-storage configuration receive a separate setup quote when VFIX performs the work. Self-service account provisioning has no setup fee; your administrator installs and configures the backup software.
Do Premium IT clients pay the management fee again?+
No, not for the same covered work. Premium computer care already includes the agreed backup-status review and quarterly sample-file restore checks. Your proposal adds the VFIX Cloud software and storage you need and identifies only any additional management or recovery work. Server-plan coverage is reviewed against your existing agreement. The online calculator shows standalone service pricing.
Can VFIX Cloud protect backups against deletion or ransomware?+
An optional immutable-storage configuration can lock backup objects against deletion or alteration for an agreed period. It must be configured and validated before being described as active protection; it is not enabled by default in these plans. Locked data can use additional capacity and cannot simply be deleted early. Backups support recovery but do not replace endpoint security, safe account access or a tested recovery plan.
How are Microsoft 365 accounts and shared mailboxes priced?+
Microsoft 365 backup is $4.99 per protected account per month, with a five-seat minimum of $24.95. Each paid seat adds 100 GB to your storage allowance. Count each protected user and shared mailbox separately; the same user’s mailbox and OneDrive are one account. Selected SharePoint content and Teams files use the pooled allowance. Tenant selections and billable accounts are confirmed before activation. This is backup, not a Microsoft 365 software subscription.
Does Microsoft 365 backup require a computer or server?+
Yes. The advertised self-service plan requires a compatible, always-on backup computer or virtual machine that you supply and maintain. One connector license for that worker is included per tenant; backing up the worker’s own files or operating system requires its own plan. Your administrator grants tenant access, chooses data and manages jobs. VFIX-hosted worker infrastructure and deployment can be quoted separately. Optional backup management does not include worker hosting.
Does this protect everything inside Microsoft 365?+
No. The supported scope includes Exchange Online email, contacts and calendars, OneDrive for Business files, selected SharePoint content and Teams files. It excludes Teams chats, calls and meetings, Planner, online archive mailboxes and Outlook group mailboxes. SharePoint sites and pages can be exported; whole-site in-place recovery is not included. We confirm the item types and restore destinations you need before activation.
Is VM backup the same as Server Recovery?+
They are alternative primary methods. A VM plan backs up the selected guest from a compatible host or backup worker; Server Recovery runs inside one Windows or Linux server instance. VM pricing is per protected guest, not unlimited guests per host. A host’s operating system, dedicated worker infrastructure, application-specific recovery and instant failover are not included. Order both methods only if your recovery plan calls for both.
How do application add-ons work?+
SQL Server, MongoDB and on-premises Exchange Server each add $4.99 per application type per protected server per month to Server Recovery. They use the server’s existing storage allowance. MySQL and Windows System State tools have no extra connector fee where supported. Compatible versions, permissions, database consistency, initial configuration and assisted recovery are separately scoped; a regular file copy is not a substitute for an application-aware backup.
How do we start and pay?+
Request your selected plan and VFIX will confirm device compatibility, storage, retention, service responsibility and any one-time work. You receive an order and payment instructions before activation. Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance in USD, plus applicable taxes. This page creates an order request; it does not take payment or activate a backup account. Cancellation, data retrieval and deletion arrangements are included with your order.
